God's people belong to a kingdom that is not of this world, but of the world to come. "For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come." The city of God is not a place on this earth, emphatically not Jerusalem, Mecca, or Rome. It is the dwelling place of God, where Jesus now sits at the right hand of the Father, preparing to descend from Heaven again in Final Judgment and Renovation. That is just one of the many supernatural promises to which we are to look as we live as pilgrims, just passing through this doomed, sin-cursed earth.
