Joshua 10:7-14 - The Power of Prayer
Was it a miracle or a mere coincidence? No natural explanation for this event can be found in science, and the Bible does not explain how the LORD did it. All we know is that the day was made longer by God.

The extra daylight was not a cosmic accident, not a coincidence. God was helping Joshua and the army who had fought hard and long. And Joshua knew he needed to ask God for help.

When something we have prayed about actually happens, do we just chalk the event up to coincidence? do we find it hard to believe that God really cares about the details of our lives? The Bible tells us repeatedly that God does care and that he will respond when we pray. With these promises in mind, we should not be surprised when miracles happen. And we can thank God for his response.

Icebreaker:
Share an aspect of your daily routine that you look forward to the most and why?

Discussion Questions:
1. God extended grace to Joshua and his leaders even though Moses left them with a warning against compromising/entering covenant with the enemy. What is the first image that comes to mind when you hear the word grace?

2. Although God has given us the freedom to make our own decisions, he chooses to intervene on our behalf. Share a time when God staged an intervention on your behalf.

3. Read Proverbs 3:6. Why is it important that we acknowledge God and allow Him to direct our paths when making decisions?

4. When we tap into God’s resources by faith and prayer, miracles happen! Share a time that God answered prayer/performed a miracle in your life? How did it make you feel?

5. This is the appointed time for a change and for our prayer life to increase. Whose life can you change through the power of prayer? Share your prayer request with your table and commit to pray for one another.

Key Takeaway: There is power in our prayers. God is waiting to intervene and perform miracles on our behalf. We must consult God and not believe the lies of the enemy, but stand strong and confident in our prayer.

Homework: Be intentional to spend time each day with God in prayer. Read Joshua 14:6-12.
