God has been challenging and encouraging me with some thoughts from an old journal entry. A fresh conversation was sparked as I looked at Zechariah 3:3-4. There I read about an encounter Joshua had with Jesus.

Joshua stands before God and His judgment seat, filthy and in rags. Satan is there accusing Joshua of all his sin. But God declares that He rejects all accusations against Joshua. God rebukes Satan and proclaims mercy for Joshua and all Jerusalem.

Jesus then commands the angels to replace Joshua's filthy clothes with fine clothes, telling everyone of Joshua clean slate and the removal of all his sins. Zechariah asks Jesus to also give Joshua a clean turban.

What a beautiful vision! Zachariah witnessed what would come to pass through Jesus for all mankind. God refuses to hear or debate any accusation the enemy has over those who put their hope in Jesus.

Jesus removes and demolishes our sin. Our filthy rags are removed and we are given new clothes and a new way of thinking. What is this new thinking? Jesus' own thoughts, the mind of Christ. What are these new clothes? The bible tells us we are clothed with all sorts of wonderful new clothes. We are fitted with splendor, joy, gladness, strength, dignity, righteousness, divine passion, garments of praise, humility, power, and victory.

I hear the Lord asking us today, "What are you wearing?" Are you trying to walk into that old closet where your filthy rags hung? As a daughter and son of the king who accepts Jesus' sacrifice of perfect love for them, you have no right to go back to your old man closet. That closet has been burnt to the ground.

Today walk into the closet built by love, paid for with Jesus' blood, and suited for royalty. Proudly put on the clothes Jesus has for you. Dress like a daughter and son of the King. Choose with the mind of Christ you have been given to wear God's fine new clothes.
