PRAISE THE LORD!
Today's sermon is taken from the letter of James 3:10-11 which says "Words of thanksgiving and cursing pour out from the same mouth, my brother's this should not happen!
No spring of water pours out sweet water and bitter water from the same opening."
James3:1-12 the whole phrase is about "The Tongue"
Why does James give so much significance to such a small muscle(tongue) in our body than the others? Why must we be cautious about our tongue? Why does God want us to learn about the impact of our tongue (words)

The tongue is one which has the most positive impacts and the most negative impacts as well. How? Let's see:-
« acc to Pro 18:20-21 our small tongue has the power to give Life as well as Death.....
« acc to Pro 14:1 A wise women builds her home, a foolish one destroys it with her own hands (here,tongue)...Tongue can either build or destroy.. Tongue can either heal many wounds, or hurt many wounds.
In today's extract, spring is the metaphor used for tongue, like how praise and curse cannot come from one tongue, the same way bitter and sweet water cannot pour out from the same spring.........
Let's introduce today's topic:
WHAT DOES YOUR SPRING BRING?
Simply, what does your tongue bring? Words of:
Life/Death, Build/Destroy, Heal/Hurt, Spirit/Flesh....
But we must remember one thing that the mouth that praises God cannot talk things which doesn't please God..
*For we cannot serve two masters as the Bible says in math6:24
*We cannot be hot and cold (like a lukewarm) we must be either of the one, acc to rev3:15-16
*we cannot be pleasing God as well as Satan... or we cannot eat at two tables
James3:8 says that tongue is uncontrollable. Even the spiritual giants of the early days were not able to control wholly their tongue, they stumbled sometimes in their spiritual life because of their uncontrollable tongue....
Now let us see how the spiritual leaders who were with Jesus, stumbled sometimes because of their tongue.
1)PEOPLE/BELIEVERS OF JERUSALEM--------
(who saw, heard Jesus, received miracles and wonders in their life).
Acc to math21:8 it says that the people spread their cloaks on the road, cut branches from trees and spread them on the road, when Jesus arrived they began to PRAISE Jesus (math 21:9) with their tongue.
The same people with the same tongue, cursed Jesus, acc to math27:21-22 people of Jerusalem literally demanded Pontius Pilate to "CRUCIFY"Jesus with the same tongue which PRAISED him before.....Thus, if the people of Jerusalem (believers) itself who well experienced Jesus, were not able to control their tongue what about us?/what is our state today
2)DISCIPLES OF JESUS---Jesus had many disciples, example: he appointed 70 of them to go ahead of Him two by two to preach the gospel acc to Luke 10:1; Disciples are not simply believers but disciple means the follower of Jesus, they accepted and hence they followed....
The same disciples with their same tongue which Praised Jesus start grumbling against Jesus in their hearts and wanted to turn away from Jesus acc to john6:60-66.
The tongue of the disciples which PRAISED Jesus, GRUMBLED against Jesus......
Thus, if the disciples of Jesus itself were not able to control their tongue, what about us?/ What is our state toady?
3)APOSTLES OF JESUS --Apostles are the one who makes disciples of Jesus
acc to math16:16-18 Peter gives revelation about Jesus to Jesus itself and the others, Peter declares Jesus as the Messiah with his tongue. Peter who PRAISED Jesus with his tongue, Denied Jesus three times(mt26:70,72,74) and began cursing too (mt 26:74) with the same tongue.
This, if the apostles who were appointed by Jesus itself were not able to control their tongue
What about us?/ what is our state today?
Tongue is the doorway of life for body, soul and spirit. Not only it is designed to feed our body, it also nourishes our soul and spirit.
Therefore, my dear friends in Christ if the spiritual leaders, disciples, apostles itself had to control their tongue, though we are not as spiritual as them we need to be very cautious about our tongue (words) ...
So, what does your spring bring?
If it pours out sweet water may God be with you always and stand more firm in Christ. But if it pours out bitter water, you can call upon God to change what your spring brings.....

In the days of Prophet Isaiah acc to isa6:6-7
He had a bitter/bad spring (tongue) full of sins and it was guilty as he confessed..
God sent his angel who brought the burning coal from the Most Holy altar and touched the tongue of Isaiah, at once his sins were forgiven and his guilt was removed.....and unto us it is more privilege shown by sending us the Holy Spirit in the form of tongues of fire acts2:1-13 ; Pray to receive your today.....

So, today's sermon is a question to all of us
WHAT DOES YOUR SPRING BRING?
MAY GOD BLESS YOU!
