When we go to court today, we're going to be put under oath to tell the truth. Why do courts have to do this? Because people lie. But even being put under oath doesn't prevent people from lying, and it is rarely prosecuted because it can sometimes be hard to prove. But even if it is prosecuted, sometimes the penalty for it isn't too severe at all. Under the Law of Moses, things were different. What would happen to a false witness under the Law of Moses if found guilty? In Lesson 60 of our study of Deuteronomy we learn the answer to this question.
