In our last study we saw the judgment of God taking away the supply of everything they needed to survive. We saw the leaders being removed and no one was willing to step up to lead. The picture was they were all wondering around as blind men not knowing where to go or what to do. We pick up the same thought here as we begin this week with Isaiah 3:12
"As for My people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths.”
The idea here in verse 12 is that the male leaders of Judah, were immature as children and weak in leadership is women. This is not a put down on women, but as we have studied regarding men and women’s roles in the church, women are not to be in authority over men. God set it up this way in the beginning and no matter how cultures try to manipulate it otherwise, this is still true today. One might say what about Deborah or Esther? Didn’t God use them as leaders over Israel? Let’s look at that.
