You saw, O king, and behold, a great image. This image, mighty and of exceeding brightness, stood before you, and its appearance was frightening. The head of this image was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its middle and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay. As you looked, a stone was cut out by no human hand, and it struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces. Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold, all together were broken in pieces, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, so that not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth. — Daniel 2:31-35

So if you were watching the video today, you could see a short video that somehow captures the text. And I am sure God was a little bit more graphic and detailed in the dream. But two things grab me about this dream.

First is the perspective that the king has of this man. He pictures himself standing before this giant image. He is amazed and frightened by its size, sparkle, and craftsmanship. Second, the king then witnesses a huge stone hurled with such great force at the image that it annihilates him. And did you note the detail of the stone? It's a stone that was not crafted or launched by human hands. It was crafted by someone greater and more powerful than what created the image. And all this terrified the king.

We will get to the interpretation in the coming verses, but right here, you need to see what God has done. God took the most powerful man in the world at that time and planted a dream in his mind that terrified him to the core. A dream and nothing more. It was so vivid Nebuchadnezzar was disturbed by it. The irony is that he has all natural resources at his disposal, and not one of these resources will help him know or understand his dream.

I think sometimes we face situations in life that are so complicated we are completely overwhelmed by them. Sometimes these experiences feel like nightmares. And with them, we experience a wide array of emotions. And I think this happens because, in these moments, we feel small. We don't see a way out because we lack something — like an ability or a resource. Yet when godly men face overwhelming moments like this, they know something. God has all power and authority to do anything he wants at any time. Does this mean godly men don't feel small? No. I am sure Daniel felt pretty small as he approached the king. But God gave Daniel a resource to bring to this king. Something that only God would know. The nightmare that plagued a king's mind.

Fellas, we have two ways we can live life. We can live a life trusting in natural resources. Or we can live a life trusting in supernatural resources. Yet, at some point, every man will come to the end of natural resources. You will come to a place where you have no answers, and you will be terrified. If this is true of a king who had everything, then this is going to be true of you. But we don't need to worry because God has limitless resources. And he is looking for men like you to steward them so that those who don't have them might hear about them and know God who has all things.

So today, if you are terrified about what's ahead of you. Ask God. He has the resources you need. But take notice he may deliver them by the hand of another unsuspecting man so that you see how great and mighty God is.

ASK THIS: Is there something that is terrifying you today?

DO THIS: Ask God for supernatural resources.

PRAY THIS: God, I need you to do this _______________ today.

PLAY THIS: I Need You.
