Psalm 34:18 ESV
18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.

The Lord is near and with us:
1. Hope of heaven - this life is a moment in light of eternity; whatever loss you're mourning, whatever acute pain you're feeling, whatever sickness, whatever impossible cling to the hope of heaven, this life on earth is not the end
2. God knows our personal suffering - Jesus knows what it's like to lose a loved one, Jesus knows what it's like to suffer unjustly, he knows what it's like to be betrayed by a friend, Jesus knows what it's like to be tempted, he knows the pain of your rejection
3. God uses community to show us that He is near - if you're in the midst of suffering, don't keep it hidden, allow [your home church] to do its job, what [they're] called to do. Healing comes in community.
4. God delivers us when we are brokenhearted and crushed in spirit by using our suffering and pain to help others - we're wounded healers
