Our hope is not in a person. It's not in a president. It's not in a political party. Our hope is in the Lord. With all the stress and trouble going on around us, it’s easy to seek our hope in the many things this world deems important. Everything is screaming at us that a particular person or cause or way of living will save us from these troubles. That’s simply not true.

Psalm 20:7 says, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”

Why do I trust in the Lord? Because of who He is. He is sovereign. He does whatever He pleases (Psalm 135:6).

I can trust Him because He spoke the world into existence. God knows all things. God is eternal. God is holy. God is transcendent.

It is important to be involved in our world, but we shouldn’t put our hope in the things of the world.

Titus 2:11-14 says the grace of God that brought salvation appeared to all. It trains us to deny and renounce ungodliness and worldly passions and live self-controlled and upright and godly lives in this present age. We should live a certain way because of the grace of God and always having hope that Jesus is going to return.

I get comfortable here on Earth. There are things I want to do. However, I want to have hope in the Lord.

We can have hope in the Lord by asking Him to search our hearts. In Psalm 139 David talks about the attributes of God then David ends Psalm 139 with a petition to God to search his heart.

Where is your hope? Ask God to search your heart. It can be tough to ask God to reveal things within us, but if God sees anything grievous, He can lead us in a better direction.

"Helping you connect faith and life."
