“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die.” (Genesis 3:1-4 KJV)

In this verse the woman began talking with the snake, instead of talking to the snake.

It’s the enemy’s job to move you out of your power source. God said if you use your mind and your mouth, you can rebuke and take anything away from your presence that is attacking you. He told Adam and Eve earlier in this chapter that He had given them authority over every creeping, crawling thing in the Garden. They had the power and authority to tell that snake to hit the road when it started talking, but they were lured in to thinking, talking, and entertaining.

There’s a big difference between talking about your disease or your problem, versus talking to it. Be careful of the friends who want to take you out to lunch to just talk about their stuff. Of course we pray about our situations, and sometimes you have to hear the doctor’s report to have an understanding about what you need to do, but don’t feed on it. We all fall into this but we have to catch ourselves. You feed anything (good or bad) with your mouth and with your mind. Don’t be lured into only thinking about the cancer, the surgery, and this problem or that issue. Talk to those things. Declare that your God will supply. Cut off that thought that wants you to take you into worry. When you begin to entertain worry it’s like lighter fluid on that situation. It can be Miracle Grow whether it’s a weed or a vegetable plant, and it will grow so fast to become a powerful plant in the garden of your mind.

Eve was lured into talking with the snake. Make a stand today, and ask the Holy Spirit to let the alarm go off in you to catch yourself talking or thinking about things all the time; when you’re feeding the problem instead of starving the problem. It will keep you from ending up like Eve, yielding to dialogue with the enemy. The longer Eve entertained the enemy, the more she lost the ground she was standing on. Don’t lose ground today! Stand firm! When you are tempted to rehearse situations that you shouldn’t, let the Holy Spirit have permission to check you. Let Him change your thoughts and begin to resist the enemy.

It said of Abraham, “He considered not his own body now dead” (Romans 4:19). Do you think Abraham’s body wasn’t talking to him? Do you think he awoke every day with the promise of a child at one hundred years old , and that his body wasn’t saying, “No way”? But Abraham didn’t consider his body, he considered the promise.

Keep your eyes on the promise! God’s about to bring you through and take you out everything you’re facing. You’re coming into a great season where you will understand that because you avoided coming into wrong conversation or imagination, you got into God’s promise.
