Joshua 2:1-14 God Can Use Anyone! 
God was not pleased with prostitution in biblical times any more than he is now. So why did the spies stop at the house of Rahab, a known prostitute? Since the spies were seeking information, they may have felt it was a safe place to gather facts without being questioned in return. 
 
Perhaps the nature of Rahab's business made her home the only place strangers could stay without attracting attention. Whatever the reason, the LORD knew Rahab's heart was open to Him, and he used her to help the Israelites win the victory over Jericho. 
 
Rahab's story shows that God will help us when we want to start doing right. No matter how we have sinned in the past, God can help us if we surrender to him. 
 
Ice Breaker: 
Share with your group what was your favorite vacation as a child was, and why it was so special. 
 
Discussion Questions: 
 
1. Read 2 Corinthians 3-6a, 2 Peter 2:9 and John 15:16. As you read these scriptures note where the Holy Spirit is “highlighting” phrases or words and share them with your group. 
 
2. As asked in the teaching tonight, where are you disqualifying yourself where God has qualified you? 
Why do you think you do this? Find a scripture can you replace with the lie that you aren’t qualified, write it out on a notecard and repeat often! 
 
3. Read 1 Samuel 16:7 and James 2:1-3. Where have you disqualified someone based on an outward assumption? Do you need to ask forgiveness for this? Pray and ask the Holy Spirit for direction. 
 
4. Rahab was an unlikely person to be used by God. Never the less, she heard about the one true God, put her faith in Him, and put her faith into action. Read James 2:14-18. 
Where is God asking you to put your faith in action? 
 
What keeps you from stepping out? If you are willing, tell someone what God is asking you to do and to hold you accountable. 
 
Homework: 
In preparation for next week read Joshua chapter three. Be sure to journal what stands out to you.

How do you typically respond when overwhelmed? 
 
 
Rahab was: 
 
1) C ______________________________ 
2:1 Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. “Go, look over the land,” he said, “especially Jericho.” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there. 2 The king of Jericho was told, “Look, some of the Israelites have come here tonight to spy out the land.” 3 So the king of Jericho sent this message to Rahab: “Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, because they have come to spy out the whole land.” 
Who was Rahab? 
 
 
Why Rahab was in danger from Israelites? From her own people? 
 
 
 
How would you respond if you were in Rahab’s shoes? 
 
 
2) C ______________________________ 
4 But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. She said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they had come from. 5 At dusk, when it was time to close the city gate, they left. I don’t know which way they went. Go after them quickly. You may catch up with them.” 6 (But she had taken them up to the roof and hidden them under the stalks of flax she had laid out on the roof.) 
7 So the men set out in pursuit of the spies on the road that leads to the fords of the Jordan, and as soon as the pursuers had gone out, the gate was shut. 
8 Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof 9 and said to them, “I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. 10 We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed. 11 When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below. 
How did Rahab get out of her predicament? How is this faith??? 
 
What happened to Sihon and Og? How did this affect all Jericho? 
 
 
What aspect of Rahab’s faith do you admire most?

30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the army had marched around them for seven days. 31 By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient.

The Faith of Rahab the Harlot 
This week in our verse by verse study of Hebrews 11, we come to Rahab the Harlot. She was a prostitute living in a dark corner of Jericho. Then God gets a hold of her heart and calls her out of darkness into His glorious light.

This week in our verse by verse study of Hebrews 11, we come to Rahab the Harlot. She was a prostitute living in a dark corner of Jericho. Then God gets a hold of her heart and calls her out of darkness into His glorious light.
