Topic : “The Woman of God”. 
 
Introduction 
-Would there be fewer social crimes if the world were run by women? 
-Biblically, more in New Testament times God used women more than men to fulfill His purpose. 
“Lydia” the Woman of God -v.16. 
1. Paul was directed by Holy Spirit to go to Macedonia- 16:9-12, and entered the city called “Philippi” - a leading city v.12 -center of influence, cosmopolitan - people in and out -more open to new ideas and able to spread the news very fast. 
2. There was no synagogue in Philippi - it required 11 people to start a synagogue -allowed to have prayer gathering v.13 - on Sabbath, there was a prayer gathering at river side. 
3. Paul and his companions found a group of women at the river side prayer, and were invited to speak. 
4. Among these women, God prepared a certain woman called “Lydia”- a prosperous business woman from Thyatira v.14. The significant characteristics of Lydia, the woman of God :- 
a. Her Conversion: 
i). To Judaism-Proselyte 16:14”worshiped God” - 
ii). To Christianity 16:14 “the Lord opened her heart” - reason of eye opening -”worshiping God”- while busy with her business, she seek the Lord diligently - allocated time for prayer,Word& worship v.13.(customary practice). 
-Her personal eye opening led her entire household to accept the Lord & baptized v.15. 
-Lydia was able to see a new spiritual direction - we need this spiritual eye opening. 
-Women and eye opening through Message, teaching, training and knowledge. 
- we can work day & night to make the gospel presented - we make many attempts to reach different group - but end of the day “only the Lord” can direct us to the right person at the right moment, and only He could open any heart to respond - It is God who begins any good work- Phil. 1:6. 
b. Her Contribution 16:15 
- An instant House Church - a pioneer Church Planter - with relatives, family members, 
servants and employers - God used Lydia to build & plant His Church -formation of Philippian Church. 
-Paul & Silas after released from the prison, they went to this house Church-v.40. 
- Lydia, the leader of a house Church ! 
c. Her Courage v.15 
i) .Position -taking charge and make decision for the whole household-strong leader & pillar. 
ii) Persuasion - ability to convince the apostles to stay in her home - Hospitality &determination. 
Conclusion 
-For God to open our spiritual eyes both man & women, we have to be faithful worshiper;God - fearing; seek the Lord diligently in midst busy heavy schedule; Responding to God’s Word with obedience; Direct our homes & household to become Worship Center & House Church for many to be saved; Be like Lydia -Strong leadership, determination, persuasive and hospitality.
