The Creator never intended for us to be confused by His words.  He gave us His Words of life, and He gave them in context, to be understood and beneficial to our walk with Him.  This channel's goal is to bring clarity to some of the misconceptions that have formed over time among believers and taught by others, however innocent and well-intended.  The Scriptures make complete sense when we keep its words in context of His coming kingdom and His coming King, Jesus the Messiah.

YHWH Is Fighting For You - Kingdom Portions - Deut. 1:1 - 3:22

THE REPHAIM were remembered by Israel as giants, or at least as people who venerated the giants of the pre-Flood world. That’s why God marked them for destruction before Israel entered the Promised Land. 
 
This week, we discuss the history of the Israelites as told by Moses while the people camped in the Arabah, before they began their campaign to take Canaan from the Amorites. 
 
Moses reminded the Israelites that their fear of the Anakim had caused them to rebel against God, which led to forty years of wandering in the wilderness. We give our reasons for believing that this was in the vicinity of Petra in Jordan. Moses also noted that God used the Ammonites, Moabites, and Edomites to eliminate the Rephaim, and those allied with them like the Horites (Hurrians) and Amorites, from the Transjordan. 
 
Then we discuss Og of Bashan and why the location of his kingdom was considered the literal entrance to the netherworld. We bring in some Jewish traditions about Og, and later texts from Amorite and Phoenician sources that portray Og as a semi-mythical underworld entity connected to the deities Rapiu (“King of Eternity”) and Malik (Molech).

There are times along life’s journey when God breaks into the gridlock and lets sojourners know that they’ve been in one place “long enough.” Such was the case with Israel at the base of Mount Horeb (Deut. 1:6), and then again at the end of their wilderness wandering (Deut. 2:3). The purpose of waiting had been fulfilled. The time of wandering had come to an end, and now was the moment to move forward. Sometimes when we are stuck in life, we wonder if the season of standstill will ever come to an end. But, when God says it’s time to move on, he often does so by reminding us of his promises and leading us to their fulfillment by faith. As we study (Deut. 1:1-18), may the promises of our faithful God fill us with hope, and may the fulfillment of his covenant blessings spur us to move forward by faith.
