The Spirit of the LORD YAHWEH is upon ME; because YAHWEH hath anointed ME to preach good tidings unto the meek; HE hath sent ME to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of YAHWEH…

John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with GOD, and the WORD was GOD. HE was with GOD in the beginning. Through HIM all things were made, and without HIM nothing was made that has been made. In HIM was life, and that life was the light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcomea it.  

John 1:14

Also, I preach once saved always saved, you cannot lose your salvation (Ephesians 4:30), otherwise again your belief would be then about works and maintenance of salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9/Titus 3:5/Galatians 2:16) and that is against the Word of God (Galatians 1:8-9)

John 12:1-11 - "Mary worships, and Judas rants" - #ChristianCoffeeTime

"Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. Then Mary took about a pint[a] of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it. 
“Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.” Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him."

Worship, Triumph, and Tears (John 12:1-19) is the topic that will be discussed today on RIOT Podcast, a Christian Discipleship Podcast. 
 
It’s been about a month since we last studied the Book of John. We have had a month of celebrating our 100th episode. It’s been a crazy ride! So this is episode 101 and the start of our next 100 episodes. We will be in John 12 vs 1-19 and here we will see John recording the second major crisis in the ministry of Jesus as it was seen by the apostle. If you remember the first one occurred when many of His disciples no longer walked with Jesus in John 6:66. In this chapter, the same thing happens as John tells us that many would not believe in Him. 
 
John opens his book by telling us that Jesus came unto his own world and his own people received him not, we read this in vs 11. In the first 12 chapters, John presented one witness after another and one proof after another, to convince us that Jesus is indeed Christ. All of this evidence was seen firsthand by the nation's leaders, yet they rejected His claims. We will see here in John 12, Jesus as He relates to four different groups of people, and there are lessons that we can learn as we study this section. 
 
Read John 12:1-11 and unpack Jesus and His friends 
 
Jesus knew that the Jewish leaders were out to arrest Him and kill Him. Remember, we read that in John 11:53 and 57, but He still returned to Bethany, only two miles from the very citadel of His enemies. Why? 
 
John 12:4-6 records the disciple Judas Iscariot's first words found anywhere in the four gospels. His last words are found in Mathew 27:4, where he said, “I have betrayed innocent blood”. We know that Judas was a thief and was in the habit of stealing money from the money box. There is no doubt at this moment in time Judas has decided to abandon Jesus, and he wanted to get what he could out of what he considered a bad situation. 
 
As we look at this event we see three different lifestyles represented, all are examples to us. Martha represents “work”, as she served the dinner. Mary represents “worship” and Lazarus represents “witness”. People would travel just to see Lazarus and the miracle that took place.

We see here John shifting the scene from a quiet dinner in Bethany, to a noisy public parade in Jerusalem. All four gospels record this event, and their accounts should be compared. This was the only public demonstration that Jesus allowed while He was ministering on earth. His purpose was to fulfill the OT prophesy in Zech 9:9.The result was a growing animosity on the part of the religious leaders that eventually lead to His crucifixion on the cross. 
 
There were three different groups in the crowd that day. The Passover visitors from outside of Judea, the local people who witnessed the raising of Lazarus, and the religious leaders who were greatly concerned about what Jesus might do at the feast. 
 
What did this demonstration mean to the Romans? Note nothing in history is recorded about the Roman viewpoint, but it is certain that they kept a close watch that day. They had to be smiling at Jesus riding on a baby cult with palm branches being laid on the ground; it would have been completely different than their triumphal entries.

The nation had wasted its opportunities, and its leaders did not know the time of God's visitation. They were ignorant of their own Scripture. The next time Israel sees the king, the scene will be radically different. Rev 19:11, “Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness, he judges and makes war.” He will come in glory, not in humility and the armies of heaven will accompany him. 
 
Lastly, how did the Jewish Leaders respond to the triumphal entry? The Pharisees were quite sure that Jesus had won the day. They were anticipating some kind of general revolt during the Passover season. How little they really understood the mind and heart of the Master! What they did not realize was that Jesus was forcing their hand so that the Sanhedrin would act during the feast.

I. What Are Your Intentions? 
1. This used to be the question a father might ask some young man coming to see his daughter. 
2. Businesses intend on making money. Our economy is rigged to make people look like they serve you. 
3. Everything that we do begins with intentions. Your intentions are the seeds of your actions. 
4. Intentions lead to resolutions which led to results. 
II. The Resolution (11:45-53) 
A. Human Intentions 
1. When people’s intentions are to not believe in Jesus, no miracles will get through to them. 
2. Most people don’t care about truth; they care about what will help them get what they want. 
3. They reason, if many people believe in Jesus, the Romans will take away “our place and our nation”. 
4. Caiaphas is practical. He’s a nuts-and-bolts kind of guy. To him it’s obvious what must be done. 
5. If Jesus is going to cause us to lose our position, our perks, our livelihood, then, Jesus has to go. 
6. The resolution that Jesus must die comes from a committee of selfish men. 
B. God’s Intentions 
1. Behind the human intentions was God’s intention. Even Caiaphas’ words were intended by God. 
2. He was prophesying. He said exactly what the Spirit intended him to say. 
3. In the inspiration of scripture, the Spirit super-intends something greater than the literal meaning. 
4. Jesus would die for [on behalf of, instead of, rather than, as the substitute for] the children of God. 
5. The “vicarious atonement”: Jesus stood in our place, He took our punishment. He was our substitute. 
6. “To gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad.” Jesus assembles God’s people. 
7. “There will be one flock, one shepherd.” Jesus will gather His lost sheep from all nations. 
8. The Holy Spirit says that Jesus is dying on behalf of His people to gather them into one. 
9. There is One flock (John 10:16), one tree (Romans 11:17-24), one nation (1 Peter 2:9), one people. 
III. The Results (11:54-12:11) 
A. Waiting (11:54-57) 
1. Jesus goes north. His time has not yet come. But now it’s coming soon, with this Passover. 
2. Jesus is waiting for the Passover; people are waiting in Jerusalem to catch Him. 
B. Anointing (12:1-8) 
1. Just six days before the Passover, five days before Jesus died Jesus comes back to Bethany. 
2. At dinner, Mary takes a flask of pure nard worth 300 denarii (about $30,000) and pours it on Jesus. 
3. Unconscious of how she might appear, she uses her hair to wipe Jesus’ feet. What did she intend? 
4. She intends to how valuable she thinks Jesus is; her heart, her love, her worship. 
5. Another disciple sounds like he has nobler intentions, for the poor: Judas, the treasurer, a thief. 
6. God super-intended to use her lavish gift to prepare Jesus for what’s coming in five days. 
7. God’s super-intending hand guides people to do (or say) what is in God’s intention, for His results. 
8. That large gift may have helped a few for a while. But Jesus will help many for eternity. 
C. Plotting (12:9-11) 
1. Many were believing in Jesus; “going away” from the religion of the Pharisees because of Lazarus. 
2. They were in the grip of expediency, the ends justify the means; so they resolve to kill Lazarus too. 
3. They intended only to protect what’s theirs. Their reasoning is practical. Now, Lazarus must die. 
IV. Invitation: The Lord had other intentions. He resolved, from the foundation of the world, that the Lamb would be slain to take away the sin of His people scattered throughout the world. The result of that resolution was that Jesus was lifted up on a cross. He gathered His people, around Him. The result is your salvation, so like Mary you can pour out the extravagant gift of your life at Jesus’ feet.
