Influenced by the imperial culture in the city, Christians in Galatia began to believe in and preach a "different" gospel that legitimizes control of human beings and the ranking of people based on their ethnic background, class, and gender. Paul reminded that the Christ he preached and they believed in was crucified and any gospel that seeks to crucify others is a threat to the gospel of crucified Christ.

Galatians 3:1-3 | Bewitched

Critical Issues Commentary (CIC) was founded to help people find their way out of unbiblical teachings that confused their understanding of the faith. The Christian media is filled with false teaching and there is a need to correct the errors that are sweeping through the church - and things are only getting worse. So CIC continues making Biblical truth available through the newsletter, the radio programs, website, the internet, and public speaking - all under the Critical Issues Commentary banner.

Our prayer is that God uses this effort to help believers grow in their faith and be strong in their witness.

Critical Issues Commentary

This sermon is about a key passage that explains how the living of the Christian life proceeds on the same basis as justification. The Galatians got that wrong and were tempted to go back to 'law-works' rather than continue to live by faith through the power of the Spirit. Paul uses a series or rhetorical questions to shock them into taking stock of their thinking and practice. 
 
The issue is serious because being “bewitched” implies coming under the spell of Satan. Satan is the accuser of the brethren and when Christians think they can be perfected by 'law-works' they will soon come under condemnation. 
 
The counter to being bewitched is faith in Christ. All who truly believe have received the Spirit at their conversion. This was by faith through grace, not law-works. Thinking that now converted, they could be sanctified by works of the law is a serious delusion. This sermon makes applications about how this happens to many Christians today. The church is nurtured by pure Bible teaching and gospel preaching, not through human effort or human wisdom. We must proceed as we began, which is by faith in God’s promises. Means of grace emphasize that and are accessible to all.

God wants us to have the spiritual maturity that we can Confidently Believe

1) The wonderful Holy Spirit in us, is the full expression of His power invested in us to be His channel of blessing

2) He will show Himself to be Mighty in our midst, when we are entrenched in the love of God in Christ Jesus, and all that we do wholeheartedly unto Him, will see fruitfulness, success

3)The miracles and healings and deliverances which God desires to be done we can do it as we submit to His Lordship.
