2:8 To the messenger of the Christians gathered in Smyrna, you must write: The first one and the last one, who became dead but who returned to life, says these things: 
 
2:9 'I have become familiar with your severe difficulty and your extreme lack of resources [or, "poverty"]. On the other hand, you actually have more than you need [or, "you are rich"]. I have also learned about the disrespect toward God [or, “blasphemy”] by those who keep talking about themselves as if they are Jews, but they are not Jews. To the contrary, they are an assembly [or, "synagogue"] of Satan. 
 
2:10 You must fear none of the things you are about to experience. Watch out! The Slanderer [or, "the Devil"] is about to throw some of you into a prison so you may be tempted. You will have severe difficulty for ten days. You must be faithful as far as death, and I will give you the prize [or, "crown"] of life.

We are called “Presbyterian” because our churches are led by elders called by God through His people to serve in the spiritual guidance of the people of God. Our worship is simple and biblical, and centers on the preaching of the Word of God through faithful exposition and applicatory exhortation.

Our church was planted in 1979 by the Second Reformed Presbyterian Church, located on the north side of Indianapolis. We are a congregation of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America. The first Reformed Presbyterian congregation was organized in North America in 1743.

In this message Pastor Jake examines Revelation 2:8-11 where the Lord Jesus addresses the church in the city of Smyrna--highlighting their faithfulness and charging them to remain faithful (even unto death). If they remained faithfulness in their time of testing, they would receive the crown of life, and not be hurt by the second death.

Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God. To become His follower you need to: Be born again of the water (baptism) and Spirit (gift of the Holy Spirit). Don't take my word, read what Jesus says in -- John 3:3,5; Mk.16:16; Mt.28:18-20. Or you can read what Peter said, when unlocking the doors of the Kingdom, Acts 2:38. Or you can see what Paul the Apostle had to do, Acts 22:16. Or see what the first gentiles where commanded to do, Acts 10:48.

Smyrna is known as "The Suffering Church"  During the history of the church there was probably no church that suffered more.  Foxes Book of Martyrs has estimated that nearly 5 million Christians lost their lives under 10 Caesars  (From Nero to Diocletian)  The Causes that  Christ told John to write about were 1.  Pressures (to worship Caesar above God) Compromise and Cave in.  2.  Poverty, make Believers so poor  and destitute as to literally starve them to death.  3.  Persecution, the other 'religious' leaders slandered and ridiculed their faith.  Christ had some harsh words to say about them.  When the believers would not compromise, they were boiled, burned, crucified and torn apart by wild animals!   Will you compromise and cave in?  The Lord told the Believers at Smyrna t o 1.  Be fearless and 2.  Be faithful  What would the Lord say about the Church today?
