Below are some scriptures we'll cover in addition to Deuteronomy 18 that explain a little more of what it means to inherit God: 
 
Ezekiel 44:15 But the priests the Levites, the sons of Zadok, that kept the charge of my sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from me, they shall come near to me to minister unto me, and they shall stand before me to offer unto me the fat and the blood, saith the Lord GOD: 
 
Ezekiel 44:16 They shall enter into my sanctuary, and they shall come near to my table, to minister unto me, and they shall keep my charge. 
 
Ezekiel 44:17 And it shall come to pass, that when they enter in at the gates of the inner court, they shall be clothed with linen garments; and no wool shall come upon them, whiles they minister in the gates of the inner court, and within. 
 
Ezekiel 44:18 They shall have linen bonnets upon their heads, and shall have linen breeches upon their loins; they shall not gird themselves with any thing that causeth sweat. 
 
Ezekiel 44:19 And when they go forth into the utter court, even into the utter court to the people, they shall put off their garments wherein they ministered, and lay them in the holy chambers, and they shall put on other garments; and they shall not sanctify the people with their garments. 
 
Ezekiel 44:20 Neither shall they shave their heads, nor suffer their locks to grow long; they shall only poll their heads. 
 
Ezekiel 44:21 Neither shall any priest drink wine, when they enter into the inner court. 
 
Ezekiel 44:22 Neither shall they take for their wives a widow, nor her that is put away: but they shall take maidens of the seed of the house of Israel, or a widow that had a priest before. 
 
Ezekiel 44:23 And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean. 
 
Ezekiel 44:24 And in controversy they shall stand in judgment; and they shall judge it according to my judgments: and they shall keep my laws and my statutes in all mine assemblies; and they shall hallow my sabbaths. 
 
Ezekiel 44:25 And they shall come at no dead person to defile themselves: but for father, or for mother, or for son, or for daughter, for brother, or for sister that hath had no husband, they may defile themselves. 
 
Ezekiel 44:26 And after he is cleansed, they shall reckon unto him seven days.

Ezekiel 44:29 They shall eat the meat offering, and the sin offering, and the trespass offering; and every dedicated thing in Israel shall be theirs.

Deuteronomy 18:1-14, July 10, 2022 - Our God has Not Appointed Such for You, S-1496-KL 
 
Today's study examines God's requirements for and privileges of the Levitical priests and His prohibitions against all forms of occult practices. The tribe of Levi was the only one of the twelve tribes of Israel to inherit no land as the "LORD your God has chosen him out of all your tribes to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons forever" (Deuteronomy 18:5). When Israel obeyed God's command to support the priests, the people were taught the Word of God, and the nation prospered. When they failed to do so and the priests were forced to look for other means of support, they and the people fell into religious apostasy, and the nation suffered. While Christians are not under God's laws for the Jewish people, we see the same principle play out today. To the extent that pastors seek to teach the whole counsel of God and their congregations allow them to do so, families and society are blessed through their obedience. Sadly, today we see how compromise and apostasy in our churches has led to our society's steady decline into moral and spiritual chaos. God also wisely forbids his people from engaging in any form of spiritism / occultism, as even seemingly benign activities are gateways to satanic influence and control. As Christians, we must be aware of the spiritual battle we are in and the strong delusion and spirit of the Antichrist that is at work in our world today. Pastor Kevin exhorts believers to remain true to the Word of God and shun satanic influences in order to protect ourselves and our families from destruction.

In Deuteronomy 18:1-8 Moses gives instructions concerning contributions for the Levites. Because they maintain the worship of God, they are to receive support from sacrifices brought to the sanctuary. The same principle applies to those who preach the gospel (1 Cor. 9:13-14). Ultimately, failing to support those who labor in the worship of God is a sign of spiritual weakness.

The Levites were one of the 12 tribes of Israel. But they were different from all the rest. God had set them apart and ordained them to care for the tabernacle and to meet the spiritual needs of His people. But how did this one tribe receive this illustrious responsibility? What was it about them that earned them the privilege of acting as God’s priests? To understand Deuteronomy 18:1-8, where Moses addresses the role and responsibilities of the Levites, we have to go back to the book of Genesis. This tribe, the descendants of Levi, were under a curse, pronounced on them by their own father. But it was well-deserved. Yet, God would redeem this unlikely and undeserving tribe, setting them apart for His service and honoring them with the responsibility of caring for His tabernacle and the spiritual needs of His people.

The East End Church of Christ, is a local congregation of Christians meeting in the northeast section of the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, and that you can only be saved by God's grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8).  Living faith is a faith that obeys God's commands.  To become a Christian, one must believe in Jesus Christ, and his death burial and resurrection, repent of their sins, confess Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and be baptized (immersed in water) for the remission of sins.  Following baptism, one must remain faithful unto death in order to receive the eternal reward of Heaven (Revelation 2:10).  The church here at East End does not have any of its own creeds, we seek to only follow the Bible.  All visitors are welcome to attend any of our services.

How then would God provide for the priests and Levites, who would be ministers in service to Him? In Lesson 56 of our study of Deuteronomy we learn the answer to this question.
