Father, you are the Maker of man, the Author of life, the Giver of every good and perfect gift. As the Creator of all things you deserve glory and praise for everything exists by your will. We have sinned by failing to regard the dignity and worth of one another. Those hateful and malicious thoughts against people made in your image we have not resisted. How uncharitable have we been! So often we find ourselves being harsh rather than compassionate, proud rather than meek, cruel rather than kind, hard-hearted rather than patient and forgiving. It is not the way we learned Christ. We have not done all we can to protect and defend the innocent, especially those who have no way of defending themselves. Sadly, we have frequently and shamefully harbored anger, hatred, bitterness, and desire for revenge. In these and other ways, we have not loved our neighbor as ourselves. Please forgive us for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

*Confession of Faith: The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell;**
The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
** i.e. his being buried, and continuing in the state of the dead, and under the power of death till the third day.
