Our Father, you are the One who knows all things, is everywhere present, and upholds the universe by the word of your power. Creation is stamped with your glory and providence is imbued with your fame. To you every knee shall bow, and every tongue will swear allegiance. Yet we have sinned by an ignorant, vain, and irreverent handling of your great and majestic name. How careless have we been to honor it! How remiss have we been to cherish it! In our prayers we have mentioned your name without due reverence and awe. In our conversations we have referred to it without proper veneration and respect. In our experience we have lived under it without suitable deference and submission. You created us to magnify your glory and to venerate your name, but we have fallen short of that purpose for which we were made. Thus, we are without hope save in your sovereign mercy. Please forgive us for Christ’s sake. Amen.

*Confession of Faith: The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell;**
The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
** i.e. his being buried, and continuing in the state of the dead, and under the power of death till the third day.
