Sermons, Vol. 4 (Classic Reprint)

by Henry Edward Manning
Excerpt from Sermons, Vol. 4

N the sight of the world, that is, of its wise, refined, easy, and prudent men, the life of St. Paul was rashness and folly. His whole mind to them was strange and unintelligible. He and the world were contradictions. In all its ways, aims, and judgments, it was set against him, and he against it. He and the world had no common language, idea, or law of life.
