Commentary on Psalms 4 - 7

Commentary on Psalms 4 - 7

by John Chrysostom
Although John Chrysostom (349 - 407 AD) may have provided commentary on all the Psalms, only a few have survived. St. John was a bishop in Antioch and he would later become the patriarch of Constantinople, which, during his time was perhaps the most important post in the Christian world. He was renowned for his preaching and earned the name golden-mouthed.

He is generally revered by all denominations of Christianity as one of the greatest teachers of all-time, and a wide range of his homilies and commentaries have been preserved to the present day.

This short book provides a modern English translation of his commentary on Psalms 4 - 7, in which he details the importance and correct practice of prayer, the providence of God and what type of people Christians should and should not interact with.

Chrysostom masterfully weaves together his arguments with a range of quotations from Scripture and citations to everyday events, displaying his timeless brilliance in preaching.
