i've read two of eadie's commentaries. this one and his commentary on thessalonians. both were full of brilliant insights that combined his steadfast faith with breathtaking scholarship. he seems to have read everything that has gone before him, sifted it, then presented his take with heartfelt attention, his eye always on the epistle's application to the christian life. reading eadie makes me wish i knew latin and hebrew, maybe even a bit of syriac. he references all three. his command of greek encompasses the classical writers, the new testament and the church fathers. be prepared to stretch yourself. i certainly improved my greek. you'll come away thanking god that eadie left such a wonderful legacy. it's like stumbling upon a gold mine. you have to work it, but there is so much treasure to be found. i can't wait to read his commentaries on colossians, galatians and ephesians. five stars doesn't begin to tell the value of his work. buy his commentaries and feed your faith.
