Then the book of Proverbs warns us against sexual temptation in chapters 6 and 7, pleading with the reader to keep the Word of God, taught to him by his own mother and father, close to his heart. ‘I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe’ (Eph 1: 18-19). When we know the present and eternal hope that we have by faith in Jesus Christ, His presence and provision today, and the vast catalogue of adventures to come in eternity with our Creator and Father, perhaps we will be less inclined to find satisfaction in temporary pleasures.…
