Short Sermons to Little Children
Earlier generations of Christians had a great concern for the salvation of the children for whom they bore a responsibility, whether in the family or the community. Many books of tender gospel appeals to the young were written.

In Short Sermons to Little Children, Plumer, a noted pastor of his time, addresses the young on the central doctrines of salvation. Each short chapter presents plain biblical teaching together with lessons to be learned and a prayerful response. Though dated and perhaps not entirely to be imitated in our day, we might ask, Why is there such a dearth of sound materials for the young being produced by the eminent pastors of our own time? Our forebears sought the conversion of the young; why have so many in our day dismissed the need for the evangelism of the young?

William Swan Plumer (1802-1880) was an American Presbyterian minister. His commentaries on Psalms and Romans are still widely appreciated.

Short Sermons to Little Children was first published in 1850 and has been completely re-typeset for this edition which also retains the images included in the original book.
