This Sunday we pick up where we left off in our study of The Acts of the Apostles by looking at chapters 19 and 20. In the text we see that as people are getting saved, they're also being convicted of their sin and practices. This prompts the question that believers today still need to be asking themselves: Who Am I? This question can be answered best when we first have an answer for the most important question: Whose Am I?

Two Questions | Acts 19:11-20:38

As we approach the last third of the Book of Acts, the story can seem like a travelogue. Paul's travel schedule is hectic, he visits a lot of places, and the episodes that Luke writes about are seemingly random. In this morning's portion of Scripture, we see Paul visiting a good number of places. Included, though, are some critically important anchoring points for this journey of walking with the Lord in life. How do we respond to seemingly random events in our own walk with Christ?

Before we launch into our new sermon series on Acts, we have the privilege this Sunday of hearing from Dan Crane, Missions Pastor at EV Free Fullerton. Dan brings with him not only much experience in missions, but a passionate heart for the Lord. On Sunday we will look at the last words of Jesus to His disciples before His ascension. These words encapsulate God's heart for the world since the beginning of time into the distant future with relevance for our lives today. 
 
As preparation for Sunday, please give some time to read Luke 24:45-48. As you read, imagine how you might have processed those words if you were one of the disciples to whom Jesus was speaking.

We will see how the Lord exposes the spiritual apathy of His people and reveals their pattern of spiritual shortcuts in their worship. Instead of a traditional sermon to unpack this text, we’re going to have a panel discussion involving four people. 
 
To prepare for Sunday, please spend some time reading through Malachi 1:1-2:9. We will flesh this out more on Sunday through our panel discussion.

One of the common reactions to Jesus was amazement. People who saw and heard Him were amazed at what He did and the authority with which He taught. Rarely, though, do we see Jesus being amazed. This Sunday, though, we take a look at the one instance in which He marveled. We will take a look at this account and explore more the reasons that Jesus reacted with amazement. We’ll also talk about the significance of this to us.

Over 2000 years ago there was a group of men who became disillusioned and found themselves in lockdown. The disciples of Jesus had been following their Lord for over three years and they believed with all their hearts that God’s kingdom on earth was about to be established in Jerusalem and that they would co-reign with Jesus on earth for the glory of God. 
 
But then the unimaginable happened! Jesus was captured, tortured, murdered on a cross and buried in a tomb. The disciples had to flee for their very lives, finding themselves locked in a room together three days later. They were depressed, disillusioned and in hiding – just like many people have found themselves here over the past several months. 
 
This Sunday’s message will look at three realities that took place with the disciples, realities that freed them from having a lockdown mentality to having a mission focus.
