The believer in Jesus who is walking in the Spirit carries what Paul called the aroma of Christ. We spread the fragrance of the knowledge of Him. It is a metaphor for our words and actions being Christlike, having the fruits of the Spirit as opposed to the works of the flesh. People see a difference in us. They are either drawn or repelled, as it is a fragrance of life to those who are being saved and a fragrance of death to those who are perishing.

After conquering the southern coalition that came against Israel, Joshua reminded the nation there was much land yet to be taken. It reminds us that in our spiritual life we cannot settle for the initial victories. 
 
God has good works prepared in advance for us to do. He will enable and empower us, but we must be willing and cooperate. We can stay in the land we have already conquered, but God has more for us. Armor up church! There is much land yet to be taken.

In the final instruction from Joshua regarding the battle over Jericho, the soldiers were warned that the entire city was devoted to destruction. Only the metals were to be saved for the Lord, which would later be used to build the temple. We find the Old Testament full of instructions to separate things: food items, materials, etc. The Lord was teaching them to not be defiled with the pagan influences. In the same way, we are called to separate ourselves from the ungodliness in the world. James tells us not to be polluted/stained by the world (James 1.27). While we are in the world, we are not to be of this world.

God's Redeeming Love | Hosea 2:14-3:1

Our infidelity and God's zealous pursuit should cause us to repent. It's time to stop whoring, and return to our first love.

God's Unfaithful Wife | Hosea 2:1-13

All He needs to do is speak the word. All we need to do is trust Him and believe that His will is best. We humbly understand that we don’t know all that is involved now and in the future. We look to the worthy One who knows all, and in faith we submit all to His will. We know His will is good, for we have seen His love displayed on the cross (Romans 8:32). Like the centurion, we can cause Jesus to marvel at our faith if we will trust Him even when we don’t understand what He has allowed.
