Leonard Ravenhill

Leonard Ravenhill (1907 - 1994)

A revivalist and man of God who sought God's will above all else. He was a man of prayer who practiced what he preached. He wrote the book: 'Why Revival Tarries' which has become a classic on revival. His prophetic edge and burden made him to be respected by some and disliked by others. Yet he stayed true to God's call on his life prayed and pleading for true heaven sent revival.

"Those who know of Leonard Ravenhill recognize in him the religious specialist, the man sent from God to battle the priests of Baal on their own mountain top, to shame the careless priest at the altar, to face the false prophet, and to warn the people who are being led astray by him. " - Tozer | "Leonard Ravenhill was one of the few men I have ever known who was a true prophet." - David Wilkerson

Leonard Ravenhill was a Christian evangelist and author who focused on the subjects of prayer and revival. He is best known for challenging the modern church and his most notable book is Why Revival Tarries.

He was a student of church history and an expert in the field of revival. His meetings during the war years drew large crowds in Britain, and as a result many converts devoted themselves to Christian ministry and the world's mission fields.

Through his teaching and books, Ravenhill addressed the disparities he perceived between the New Testament Church and the Church in his time and called for adherence to the principles of biblical revival.

Leonard Ravenhill became one of the twentieth century's greatest authorities on revival. His message is drastic, fearless, and often radical.

Appalled by the disparity between the New Testament Church and what passes for the Church today, Ravenhill gives a no-compromise call to the principles of biblical revival.

Pentecost

Lord Montgomery, that unpredictable British field Marshall, said recently that England went into the Second World War equipped to fight the First World War. This was a polite way of saying that in World War II England was way behind the times in battle equipment and strategy. When Sir Christopher Wr... Read More

Pentecost at Any Cost

Some simpleton, trying to fill in the Grand Canyon with a shovel, would evoke gales of laughter and would suffer scorn and unbearable vituperation. No man will ever fill in that hole - not even with any army of bulldozers (never mind a one-man shovel operation). We Christians are a "holey" people. T... Read More

Picture of a Prophet

The prophet in his day is fully accepted of God and totally rejected by men. Years back, Dr. Gregory Mantle was right when he said, "No man can be fully accepted until he is totally rejected." The prophet of the Lord is aware of both these experiences. They are his "brand name." The group, challenge... Read More

Prayer: The Gospel of Prayer

The Gospel Of Prayer There's nothing more transfiguring than prayer. People often ask, "Why do you insist on prayer so much?" The answer is very simple - because Jesus did. You could change the title of the Gospel according to St. Luke to the Gospel of Prayer. It's the prayer life of Jesus. The othe... Read More

Revival Series - Lecture #1

Revival......another definition would be to recover, repair or restore. Hosea 10:12 says: "Sow to yourself in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground; for it is time to seek the Lord till He come and reign righteousness upon you." What is fallow ground? Fallow ground is ground that... Read More

Richard Baxter of Kidderminster

Scriptuaral pedigree is fascinating: "Isaac begat Jacob; Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs. . . ." No less intriguing is evangelical pedigree: "Walter Craddock begat Richard Baxter; Richard Baxter, through his fiery preaching and writings, begat a multitude that no man could number." Richard Baxter ... Read More

The Judgment Seat of Christ

"For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ." -Romans 14:10 KJV I want to tell you a story about when I was a young boy going to school. The Power of His Resurrection

The Taming of the Tongue

Until recently, we were pretty much in the dark about the human body. But then came the X-ray with its peeping eye...a marvelous instrument which has saved us much human misery. It was able to show us the human heart, but it couldn't show us the soul or it could show us the throat, but not the voice... Read More

Today's Sleeping Giant

Solemnly and slowly, with his index finger extended, Napoleon Bonaparte outlined a great stretch of country on a map of the world. "There," he growled, "is a sleeping giant. Let him sleep! If he wakes, he will shake the world." That sleeping giant was China. Today, Bonaparte's prophecy of some one h... Read More

Weeping between the porch and the altar Part 2

In the city of Leeds, where I lived in England, the revival came. It came because there was a little man there, he was unlettered, he had no degree, but boy, did he have a burning heart. What do I Still Lack?

What percentage of responsibility for my spiritual maturity is the Lord's, and how much of it is mine? To say that I alone am responsible for my soul's development is conceit. Zeal - Love Ablaze!

Enoch had prophesied, saying, "Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones."
