Deceit or deception is the oldest trick in the book when it comes to evil and wickedness. It was the weapon used by the serpent in leading mankind to fall into sin. Unfortunately, no matter how obvious some of the devil’s lies seem, people still fall into these traps.
God’s enemy uses deceit in leading people astray. He would make them believe that riches, power and fame are more important than putting their lives in the hands of God. He would appeal to their lust and senses, and they would blindly walk into his trap.
Man’s heart is also an agent that often deceives man. Believing in oneself, loving oneself, caring about oneself – all of these seem good and practical on the surface. But behind this camouflage, it leads men away from God’s will in their lives.
