If we read the Scriptures, the Old Testament is filled with warnings for the children of Israel not to entertain and allow foreigners into their lives, their faith, and their land. In fact, there were instructed not to intermarry with them. Why is that? That’s because other nations around them worship strange gods and idols, whom God despises. Sadly, Israel disobeyed and allowed all these ungodly influences to penetrate their culture.

However, once we move to the New Testament, God’s message changes a bit. Yes, there was still the danger of doing what the Gentiles were doing. But because of God’s message of salvation for everyone, the Jewish Christians were commanded to go into all the world.

This simply means, the Bible teaches that we should not treat others differently just because they are strangers. What other reminders do we need to know from the word of God concerning foreigners?
