Pride is one of the seven deadly sins. In fact, it is the sin most often associated with Lucifer or Satan, the enemy of God. In Isaiah, he thought he should be equal and even higher than the throne of God. Our Creator was not pleased, and so the devil was cast down in the earth, with a future judgment awaiting him.
Looking at these events, it would be easy to say that God abhors pride. Why? That’s because as human beings, there is absolutely nothing we should be proud of about ourselves. Every good thing and quality that we have were all given by God.
Pride is the failure to recognize God in your life, and just focus on your own welfare and benefit. But the Bible is clear: when pride comes, destruction will follow soon after.
