Although the Bible contains lessons of prosperity, good health and success, some of the principles it teaches involve suffering and problems in life. This balance paints the real picture about life – it is not just about succeeding, being full or being rich. There are instances in this life while people may suffer need, be hungry, or encounter setbacks.

As Christians, we are expected of God to welcome both successes and failures. The apostle Paul was clear as day when he said he learned to be content in whatever situation he was in. He did not complain, but trusted God that it was His will and plan.

Complaining is the result of a lack of trust in God. We complain because we think and feel that we don’t deserve what we have been given. However, if we could just understand that we don’t actually deserve anything in this world because we are sinners before God.
