To the tune of “The Doe of the Morning.” A psalm of David.</h3>22 <poetry>My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? <indent>Why are you so far from saving me,</indent> <indent>so far from my cries of anguish? </indent> </poetry> 2 <poetry>My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, <indent>by night, but I find no rest. </indent></poetry> 3 <poetry>Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; <indent>you are the one Israel praises. </indent> </poetry> 4 <poetry>In you our ancestors put their trust; <indent>they trusted and you delivered them. </indent> </poetry> 5 <poetry>To you they cried out and were saved; <indent>in you they trusted and were not put to shame. </indent></poetry> 6 <poetry>But I am a worm and not a man, <indent>scorned by everyone, despised by the people.</indent> </poetry> 7 <poetry>All who see me mock me; <indent>they hurl insults, shaking their heads. </indent> </poetry> 8 <poetry>“He trusts in the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap>,” they say, <indent>“let the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap> rescue him. </indent> Let him deliver him, <indent>since he delights in him.”</indent></poetry> 9 <poetry>Yet you brought me out of the womb; <indent>you made me trust in you, even at my mother’s breast.</indent> </poetry> 10 <poetry>From birth I was cast on you; <indent>from my mother’s womb you have been my God.</indent></poetry>
