Being left out of a family can cause many trials and tribulations.  The need to belong causes persons to seek, search, and lament until that need is realized.  No greater need for peace, happiness, and joy is greater than the need to belong to a viable family.  God has created a new humanity, a family.  God has brought two nations together - Jews and Gentiles - into one family by the cross of Jesus Christ.  Those who seek a family have only to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and allow faith to captivate their body, soul, mind, and spirit.  God wants us all to stop being strangers and join his family.

Simon’s wife's mother had a fever, but Jesus healed her and she rose up to serve.  Mark shows us that when we are touched with the love of Jesus, we should touch others with that same love we have been given.  We pay the love of Jesus forward.

In the early church prayer was held as the solution to the offenses of the Jew and Gentile world against the Christians.  Peter, John, and James proscribed prayer as the answer to problems that they themselves couldn't handle.  And so they prayed and God delivered.  The early church demonstrates that pray leads to healing, salvation, and deliverance, especially prayer infused by the Holy Spirit.
