The Bible contains some of the most epic and meaningful stories ever told, so why aren’t they adapted to film, music, and media more often? For example, if you do a search on the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), there are 32,057 titles based on a novel, 6,300 based on a true story, 395 based on Greek mythology, but only 118 based on the Bible, with 17 of them being musicals. This means out of 74,963 musicals (on IMDb), only 17 musicals are based on the Bible, and 8 of them are Veggietales shows! So, instead of wondering why Biblical stories aren’t told more often today, let us be the generation to change that and bring these stories into the spotlight in a manner faithful to the original. It was somehow the Book of Esther that inspired me to begin this journey. It translates very beautifully into a musical and more people in today’s world deserve to know about Esther, the importance of prayer, and boldness in the face of crises and oppression.
