Unclean did not necessarily mean dirty – it was more about the concept of spiritual purity. 
 
The Pharisees had: 
· Elevated tradition over law. 
· Elevated human wisdom over God’s wisdom. 
· Elevated human ways over God’s ways. 
 
Isaiah 29:13-16 – Isaiah was not only prophetic about traditionalism chosen over God’s law, but humanity itself thinking we know better than God. 
 
We become hypocrites when: 
· We choose reputation over character 
· We choose religion over relationship 
· We emphasize our virtues and other’s sins 
 
Sin comes from inside us, it is not something we consume. 
 
Being Pharisaic is not unheard of in the modern church, we can be just as dead in our traditions and legalistic religiosity. 
 
Simple Truth: Satan can defeat us through the back door of legalism and religion. We must remember to stay focused on truth and relationship with Jesus!

Identifying Your Wall - Hebrews 10:24-25 & The Story of Nehemiah

A gate does three things: 
· It provides an entrance 
· It provides an exit 
· It provides protection 
 
Jesus, acting as the gate, does three things: 
· He provides entrance, which we call salvation 
o There is only one of them 
o Anyone can use it but it’s not easy 
o One has to decide to enter 
· He provides safe exit 
· He provides satisfaction 
 
All the while, Satan will work at doing three things: 
· Steal 
· Kill 
· Destroy 
 
Main Point: Jesus, our gate, wants us saved, safe, and satisfied.

Where You Go I Go: Rare Act of Loyalty 
Ruth Chapter 1 
 
· Naomi had a relationship with God 
 
· Ruth stayed with Naomi because she was loyal. 
 
Ruth and Naomi had a relationship that was built on: 
 
· A common faith 
· A mutual commitment 
· Selfless love and service 
 
Naomi loved God, but loss bred bitterness. 
 
Application: 
· When we experience bitter times, God welcomes our honest prayers. 
· God gives us love, strength, and blessings through relationships with others 
· Bitterness and disappointment can blind us to opportunities – don’t let that happen! 
 
Main Point: Loyalty in relationships is a blessing from God, let us take something that is rare in our world today and make it common.
