1. God is all-powerful, and He has complete control over His creation! (Exodus 19:16-19).

WORDS TO KNOW AND EXPLAIN 
 
Priest — a church official who speaks to others on behalf of God 
Forerunner — a person who goes before or announces the coming of another 
John — means “to be gracious,” or “Jehovah is gracious.” 
 
EXPLAINING THE MEMORY VERSE 
 The angel told Zacharias, “Don’t be afraid, and that his prayers have been answered by God. He and his wife Elizabeth were going to have a baby boy, and they must name him John. He will be a joy and delight to them, and many people will celebrate his birth.” 
CONCLUSION 
 Some things others say may sound too good to be true, but God always keeps His promises. Nothing is too hard for God! 
PRAYER 
 Dear heavenly Father, thank You for being patient with us when we doubt You! Replace our doubt with faith as we wait for Your plan to happen on Your schedule. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Blessed – happy, joyous, fortunate 
Mercy – being kind and gentle toward others 
Messiah – title for Jesus, the promised Savior 
Praise - the expression of approval or admiration for someone or something. 
Promise – to say that you will or will not do something 
Sure – no doubt that something will happen 
 
“The Affirmation of the Promise” 
“God’s Sure Promise” 
 
 “And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour” (Luke 1:46-47). 
 
 Mary’s song was one of praise and rejoicing. She was able to respond to God’s message with praise because she believed God. Mary knew that God had always helped and taken care of His people. Because of her faith, she knew that He would also help and take care of her. 
 
POINTS TO PONDER 
1. Serve God with a sense of urgency! (Luke 1:39) 
2. God’s presence always draws a reaction. (Luke 1:40-41) 
3. Blessed are those who believe (His Word) “things which were told…from the Lord.” (Luke 1:42-45). 
4. Be thankful for all God has done for you. (Luke 1:46-48) 
5. Allow God to be the focus of your life. (Luke 1:49) 
6. God shows mercy to those that fear (respect) Him. (Luke 1:50-54) 
7. Our God is a promise keeper! 
 
CONCLUSION 
 This lesson teaches us that God’s promises are sure. There is no doubt that His promises will happen. Because we can be sure of God’s promises, we should always obey and always trust what God has said! Let’s be full of praise because the His Promises are sure! 
PRAYER 
 Dear Father in Heaven, we praise and rejoice in all that You have done for us. Help us to always trust in Your Word and to believe in Your promises, in Jesus’ name. Amen. 
 
THOUGHT TO REMEMBER 
 God uses people we might not expect in ways we might not imagine.

CONCLUSION 
 If you believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins, you can be part of the remnant that will one day sing for joy with God. When Jesus returns, that will be a great day of joy! We will praise God and live with Him forever! 
 
PRAYER 
 Heavenly Father, it is at times so frustrating to live in a world in such constant turmoil from the curse of sin. We become impatient to be home with You and free from the brokenness of sin, dwelling in a place where all things are made new. We thank You that through Jesus there is a promise of such a place. Help us, we pray, to live patiently and faithfully until the time for our “homecoming.” We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen. 
 
THOUGHT TO REMEMBER 
 Homecoming day is not yet, but will be. 
 
ANTICIPATING THE NEXT LESSON
