Revitalizing Masculinity - Matthew 19:4-6 
 
We have a shortage of good fathers because we have a shortage of good men. Biblical masculinity addresses more than just clothes: it completely dismantles the toxic masculinity that the world understands today. The biblical man should walk in love rather than be harsh, stern, and rash (Eph. 5:2). He should be a prime example of gentleness, patience, and self-control (Gal. 5:22-23). Jesus Christ is a perfect example of biblical masculinity. He was resilient in pursuing God, gentle in spirit, and humble in service to others. According to the Bible and by the example of Christ, masculinity is humble leadership. It is sacrificial love and incredible humility. Our society needs revitalized masculinity. We need masculinity that will treat women with honor, prize honesty, and fight for the sake of the vulnerable. Rather than removing all boundaries for masculinity or clinging to a toxic version of it, biblical masculinity is rooted in the dedicated imitation of Christ. Join us and invite someone.

Producing fruit is not easy. It's not something that happens overnight. It's not something you can do on your own. However, bearing fruit is good. It does your heart good. It does those around you good. It does the kingdom of God good. Fruit is one of the goals of the Christian life. Remember the lesson of the fig tree. All Pride Aside - 1 Peter 5:1-10 
 
“Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them” (Proverbs 26:12). God hates pride. How do we explain God’s abhorrence of the haughty heart? Simple. God resists the proud because the proud resist God. Arrogance will not admit to sin. The heart of pride never confesses, never repents, never asks for forgiveness. Pride is the hidden reef that shipwrecks the soul. 
 
Pride comes at a high price. Don’t pay it. Choose instead to stand on the offer of grace. “God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5). Isn’t it easy to see why? Humility is happy to do what pride will not. The humble heart is quick to acknowledge the need for God, eager to confess sin, willing to kneel before heaven’s mighty hand. And because God’s promises are unbreakable, our hope is unshakable!

It is important to understand atmospheres and your ability to change them because Jesus has authorized and empowered you to do so. I have heard it said that Christians are not spiritual thermometers but spiritual thermostats. In other words, you are not merely supposed to detect the spiritual climate as a thermometer detects the existing temperature in a room; you are to change it, imposing the authority of the kingdom of God wherever you go. Start by changing the atmosphere. Keep a spirit of prayer and praise in your life. It creates the right atmosphere around you. Jesus changed the atmosphere in His region. You have the power to change the atmosphere and usher the presence and power of God into your situation, your home, and your church. Wherever he's present, the atmosphere has got to change. After we die, most of our personal history will die with us, forgotten except for perhaps a few pictures or memories cherished by our closest loved ones. The chances of your life accomplishments being preserved in a biography are slim to none.

Better than anything impressive that you could accomplish in this life, your life story is a biography of wisdom and grace written by Another. Every twist of the plot is for the best. Every turn he writes into your story is correct. Every new character or unexpected event is a tool of his grace. Each new chapter advances his purpose. Do you know anyone who rubs you the wrong way so badly that when you walk away from that person, you feel like you're about to explode? Does it seem like that person always says something so rude, unkind, impolite, or derogatory that it nearly makes your blood boil when you are with them? Notice that the apostle Paul began this verse by saying, "If it is possible." The fact that he started with the word "if" means there may be times when we run into a case where it is impossible to have peace with all men. As we are all well aware, it can be challenging to be at peace with some people. But regardless of the difficulty of the task or the ugly behavior of those we encounter along the way in life, the command of God remains: To the best of our ability, we must give our best efforts to be at peace with all men. Join us and invite someone as we dive deeper into human interaction through the word of God.

Having Nothing. Possessing Everything - 2 Corinthians 6:3-10 
Developing the mindset of abundance 
 
We’re a culture with a possession obsession; getting and having more things. In fact, it would collapse if everyone only obtained what they needed rather than what they wanted. You can have it all in terms of material goods and success yet still feel empty that life doesn’t seem worth living. It’s possible to possess Everything and have nothing from this point of view. But there is another perspective from which “having nothing and yet possessing all things” is a good and desirable thing. In fact, the very words of this paradox come from the apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 6:10. All things are ours if we are Christ’s. And if we have Christ, we cannot have anything better, and we will not lack anything we truly need. Jeremiah has the same experience. He is destitute and experiences intense sorrows and affliction. But his hope is “the Lord is my portion” (Lamentations 3:24). Since this is true, he possesses all things, even though he has nothing. Join us Wednesday at 7 pm CST as we explore this and more.

I propose is that Christians should be involved to a degree in institutional forms of Christianity, but not believe that doing so is all there is to the Christian life. Christians need to be aware and avoid the corrupting effects of institutionalism, while at the same time not avoid the institution itself. Jesus is a model. He went to the synagogue and was involved in the ceremonies and such, though he and his followers were cast out of the synagogs from town to town. Christians should expect the same kind of abuse today from even institutional forms of Christianity. The history of the "Christian Church" proves this point. When a church becomes so corrupt as to reject any possibility of an internal change preventing you from fulfilling your ministry or role as a member of the body of Christ, then just as Paul shifted his focus to the Gentiles, perhaps it's time to find another church or start a new one. 
 
The institutional problem is inevitable and cannot be fixed. It's simply a cross to bear. This is not to say that you should tolerate institutional corruption, but rather that you should walk as Jesus did. Live the Christian life, make disciples, do as the Lord commanded in spite of the institutional corruption. Point out the problems, the hypocrisy, and such, just as Jesus did. And expect to be treated with hostility. That's just part of the Christian life.

A Good Name - Proverbs 22:1

Since all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Jesus, He cannot be a halfway god or a junior god. Jesus wasn’t merely inspired by God or touched by God or illuminated by God – Jesus was and is God. 
Paul went even further when he wrote that in Jesus is all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. This clarifies that all the fullness of the Godhead was in Jesus bodily, not only in some strange, mystical sense. 
 This radical teaching has an amazing effect: and you are complete in Him. This can only be true because Jesus is truly God. If He were not God, we couldn’t be complete in Him. Anything that says we are not complete in Him also takes away from the deity of Jesus. Notice that Paul wrote that this is a fact to be enjoyed, not a status to be achieved. 
If all the fullness of God dwells in Jesus, and as believers, we are united to Him in a faith relationship, then we are also complete in Him. Ultimately, you won’t find completion in anyone or anything else. 
 
Let it sink deep into your heart: Jesus is God, and by faith, I am complete in Him.

Do you constantly criticize and pass judgment on others? Do you find yourself with a negative disposition, always finding fault with something or someone?
