2 Kings 10:17-36 "Deception"

Elisha's servant Gehazi was instructed by Elisha to minister to a young boy who had died in his mother's arms. She was promised this young boy and now he is dead. Gehazi was instructed to go and lay Elisha's staff over the dead boy and nothing happened. Why? Tune in and listen....

2 Kings 4:31-37 "Why?"

How do you respond to crisis? Do we cling to Jesus? Often times it's easy to grow close to our Lord during crisis, but do we cling to Him when things are good? In our passage today, the Shunamite women's only son dies. She was promised this son by the prophet of God, Elisha. As his lifeless body is held in her arms, how does she respond?

2 Kings 4:18-31 "Our Hope is in Jesus"

Outward appearances can be deceiving. The men of Jericho approach Elisha and tells him that "the situation of the city is pleasant," but the water is bad and the ground barren. The appearance of the city looked great, but the life of the city was in jeopardy because of bad water and barren ground. This can be a picture of our lives. Elisha uses salt and a new bowl to heal the water.

2 Kings 2:19-25 "Contaminated and Barren"

Have you ever felt like the odds are stacked against you? It's in times such as these we look for guidance and direction. In the moments we feel overwhelmed or facing a difficult time, who or what do we turn to? What/who we worship is what/who we will turn to in these times! We must always focus on God's Word and live in obedience to Him!

2 Kings 1:9-12 "Stacked Against the Odds"

In the final chapter of 1st Kings, we take a look at the the King of Judah (Jehoshaphat) and all the amazing things he accomplished, "nevertheless" the high places were not taken away. We need to be mindful of the "high places" that can be built in our hearts that leads us away from worshipping God.

1 Kings 22:41-53 "Removing the High Places in our Hearts"

A listening heart to God's Word is so important! This will dictate our walk with the Lord. There is danger of not having a listening heart to God's Word. King Ahab listened to his 400 false prophets instead of listening to God's Word, which ends in his death! Which voice is your heart listening to today? Is it God's Word? If not, we need to re-examine our hearts!

1 Kings 22:24-28 "A Failed Listening Heart"

King Ahab wanting to take back the city of Ramoth Gilead back from Syria inquires his 400 false prophets if he should go and attack and take back this city. The one true prophet of the LORD shared a vision regarding Ahab and it's a scene in heaven. The LORD asks the host, "who will persuade Ahab to go and fight." Ultimately, the LORD approves a "lying spirit" to entice Ahab! Check it out!!

1 Kings 22:13-23 "He Believed the Lie from His Own Heart"

The saying is: "If it walk likes duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck, then it's a duck." The prophets of Ahab looked like prophets of the Lord, and sounded like prophets of the Lord but they were not prophets of the Lord. There are those who claim to be Christians, sound like Christians but actions are otherwise, not good!! Tune in and hear the rest....

1 Kings 22:7-12 "False Prophets of God"

"He sold himself to do evil." King Ahab's wicked heart  eventually caused his soul to be mortgaged piece by piece and bit by bit to evil. We can do the same when we begin to compromise here and compromise there; this begins in the heart. The Word of the LORD brought judgement against this. How does King Ahab respond?

1 Kings 21:17-29 "The Lord Condemns Ahab"

King Ahab is the epitome of a wicked heart. A wicked heart will twist words, twist motives, divide and sow seeds of discord to fulfill lust! We must continually examine our hearts!

1 Kings 21:6-16 "Twisted"

Ahab was instructed to destroy Ben-Hadad a sworn enemy. Instead, he embraced him as a "brother." He was in disobedience to the Word of the LORD. There is no such thing as "little disobedience" in the eyes of the Lord. We are either obedient or we are not. See how this worked out for Ahab and for the "neighbor" who refused to strike the prophet.

1 Kings 20:35-43 "Ahab's Disobedience"

How many times can you count where God has given you another chance? In this passage, we see how God used king Ahab to "slaughter" the Syrians. Remember, Ahab was a corrupt idol worshiper! BUT GOD used him to defeat the Syrians and king Ben-Hadad! Check out the teaching!

1 Kings 20:13-22 "Our Great God of Mercy and Grace!"

King Ben-Hadad of Syria is demanding all the silver, gold, wives and children from King Ahab. King Ahab agrees to this demand, and King Ben-Hadad demands more. Our flesh, the enemy and sin are the same way. We give a little ground, and more ground is required to give up. Ben-Hadad can be a representation of our flesh, of the enemy and of sin.
