Today we look at Genesis 28:10-33:20.  The Apostle Paul reminds that Galatian church that if one sows to the flesh he will reap from the flesh corruption; in other words, "We never get away with it."  As we look at an overview of the life of Jacob while he lived in the land of Haran, we see that he 'reaps' what he had sown in his past with his relationship with his parents and his brother Esau. Today we look at Genesis 25:11-34.  Genesis is filled with repetitive pictures showing God's purpose in creating both Mankind and this earth.  Cain and Abel, Eden and the corrupted earth, Man's wickedness and Noah's righteousness; the list of illustrations of living independently from God and living by faith in Him continues all through Genesis.  In all of these stories God wants us to come to know and understand how He wants us to live as strangers and aliens on this earth, fixing our eyes on the LORD Jesus. Today we look at Genesis 24-25:11.  The LORD had blessed Abraham in every way and he lived 175years, being satisfied with life.  As Abraham approaches the time of his death he wants to do one last thing, find a bride for his son Isaac.  He knows that Isaac shouldn't go back to Mesopotamia, the land that Abraham left, and that Isaac shouldn't find a wife from among the Canaanites, the land where they are living as strangers.  What should he do?  It turns out nothing has changed for Abraham, he still needs to live by faith in his old age, remembering that the LORD provides for Himself. Today we look at Deuteronomy 6:1-25.  God wanted His people to stand out among the other nations and so giving them His Law and Statues would be a significant part of this.  He told Israel to teach their children and grandchildren His law in order that the next generation would learn to fear Him.  God longed for His people to live a long time in the land of rest, Canaan, and the His Law would point Israel to greater dependence upon Him.  A Message for the New Sweden Mission Church.  From Pastor Lawrence

Deuteronomy 6:1-25, May 9, 2021

Today we look at Deuteronomy 5:1-33.  This morning we move into the second section of the Book of Deuteronomy; "A reminder of God's Law", this is the largest section of the book.  Moses was instructed by God to remind His people about His Law and to record it for Israel, so that they could listen and observe it and prolong their days in the Land of Rest.  In chapter 5 we have an introduction to the purpose of the Covenant that God gave the people at Mount Horeb.  Why did God add this Covenant?  A Message for the New Sweden Mission Church.  From Pastor Lawrence

Deuteronomy 5:1-33, May 2, 2021

Today we look at Deuteronomy 3:22-4:40.  Moses lists one more barrier to entering in to the Promised Land, the place of rest, and this is compromise.  He shares his own personal testimony of striking the rock instead of speaking to it, disobeying the LORD's command, when the people were without water, to illustrate how he was unable to enter the land.  Moses also reminded them of how their parents compromised God's instructions by taking spouses among the Moabites; God did not want His people doing this.  Why is compromise such a roadblock to rest?  A Message for the New Sweden Mission Church.  From Pastor Lawrence

Deuteronomy 3:22-4:40, April 25, 2021

Today we look at Deuteronomy 2:9-3:22.  Fear can be one of the biggest barriers to entering God's rest.  When we come to realize that we are not in control of very much, it can make us very afraid.  These fears are caused by what the Bible calls giants and the people of Israel were unwilling to enter into Canaan because of them, as they were worried about what would happen to their children in this unknown land.  This morning we will see how God deals with the giants as He encourages us to enter His rest.  A Message for the New Sweden Mission Church.  From Pastor Lawrence
