In the 1960s and '70s, Covenant College hosted L'Abri Conferences on campus, welcomed Francis Schaeffer to speak in chapel, and maintained a close tie with many members of the L'Abri community. L'Abri communities are study centers in Europe, Asia, and America where Christian and non-Christian individuals have the opportunity to seek answers to honest questions about God and the significance of human life. 
 
As a Covenant student, Chuck Neal's life was transformed by a series of chapel talks by Francis Schaeffer, the content of which Schaeffer soon wrote into the book True Spirituality. Years later Chuck's family made the Francis Shaeffer Conference on True Spirituality possible, hoping future students would also benefit from speakers exploring the core tenets of the gospel. 
 
Stephan is the author of Possible: A Blueprint for Changing How We Change the World (2015), Seeking Refuge: On the Shores of the Global Refugee Crisis (2016), and Break Open the Sky: Saving our Faith from a Culture of Fear (2017). Stephan considers his African friends his most influential teachers, and his wife, Belinda, his most important mentor. 
 
Belinda is founder of One Million Thumbprints, and the co-founder and executive director of Together International, a nonprofit focused on community development. She is an active advocate for Wage Peace in partnership with World Relief, as well as an advisor to The Justice Conference. As the newest board member of the abolitionist organization Love 146, she seeks a day when slavery is ended. Belinda has authored articles for media outlets such as Newsweek's Daily Beast, Huffington Post and Today's Christian Woman, and contributed to Mastering the Middle Grades, a curriculum published by Johns Hopkins University. Belinda holds a master's degree in education from Covenant College.
