Well Jimmy one of the great points that he made was we over the past 50 years have lived in an exceptional era of Christianity. Being Christians in the United States of America we have had more liberty and more prosperity and quite frankly we're the only Christians in Biblical history that haven't been persecuted for our faith. As a consequence we've probably gotten a little lazy and a little lethargic. You look throughout church history and whether it be William Tyndale burned at the stake for translating the Scriptures. Whether it be the Separatist in England being persecuted for wanting to have their house church and not wanting to participate in the official Church of England. Or quite frankly whether it be the first church that was continuing to hang around Jerusalem in Acts 8 when God said no I'm sending you into Jerusalem, Judaea, Samaria yet they weren't going anywhere. Well God wound up to me using in Romans 8:28 moment and allowing a little persecution on the church to get the people out of their comfort zone and to actually take the gospel into the four corners of the Earth. 
 
We have enjoyed incredible freedom. Being a Christian in America hasn't cost us anything. As a consequence there are probably a lot of people I think you would agree that identify as Christians that probably aren't born again. Now we're coming into a time where Christianity is not in fact we may suffer. It may come at a cost and they are going to do everything they can and are beginning to now with such bills like the Equality Act in Congress to get us to compromise our standards to compromise truth. Dr. Luther had written on this and he spoke to our combined groups we have to be prepared to know what the truth is and be willing to die for it. We cannot compromise on the truth. That begins with Jesus being the way the truth and the life. But we cannot compromise on truth we have to be the light in the darkness. Dr. Luther has of course written on this and has been a real blessing to all the attendees. 
 
We report this information because it is setting the stage for Bible prophecy to be fulfilled. 
 
Paul Blair a former lineman for the NFL team the Chicago Bears now a pastor in Oklahoma knows how tough it can be on the playing field for pastors and Christians in the real world today. Pastors and Christians may need a Romans 2:28 Moment so we can stand for "truth" in the last days!

For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent. Zephaniah 3:9

As we read our selection of God's prophetic word in Zephaniah, we must realize that the Lord will one day, a day that seems not too far into the future, will one day pour out his indignation upon the nations of the world that have brought harm to the Jewish people, verse 8. 
 
God through the prophet Zephaniah tells the Jews not to be proud. In fact, He tells them they will be no "more haughty" because of His "holy mountain". The "holy mountain of God" is the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. This is to be the location of the Lord's presence among His people forever, Psalm 132:13-14. 
 
It is in the midst of the warnings and promises that the Lord tells His people that He will return to them a "pure language", verse 9. This passage needs some explanation. The language of the Jewish people for the first 2,000 years of their existence was the Hebrew language. 
 
With the destruction of the Temple, the devastation of the city of Jerusalem, and the dispersion of the Jews into the four corners of the earth in 70A.D, the Jews basically left off from speaking the Hebrew language. 
 
Any linguist will confirm that Hebrew was a dead language for almost 2000 years. It was not used for daily conversation, for commerce, or for anything else except a rare reading of the Hebrew text in a place of Jewish worship. 
 
In the late 1800's, a Jewish man named Eliezar Ben-Yahuda moved to Israel with his new bride and they started to learn Hebrew, develop new Hebrew words, develop a method of teaching Hebrew, and even put together a Hebrew dictionary with the new words in it. 
 
The miracle of the restoration of the Hebrew language to the Jewish people of today is evidence that we are living in the days referred to by Zephaniah. Not only was the prophecy of the resurrection of the Hebrew language fulfilled, but all the other prophecies Zephaniah wrote down for us today will be fulfilled as well - and most likely in the near future.

As we come once again to Micah 4, we will read the entire chapter and look at only one of the five prophecies from the prophet Micah that is yet to be fulfilled. By the way, there is also a prophecy of the exact location for the birth of Jesus Christ which we will look at in a future daily devotional. 
 
Last time we read Micah 4 we looked at the prophecy of a future Temple in Jerusalem, verses 1-2. This time we will think about the "anticipation for peace," not only among the Jewish people, by people all over the world as well. 
 
Verses 3-5 speak of the "time of peace" coming. When the Messiah, Jesus Christ comes back to earth, He will rebuke strong nations and judge the people of the world. As the Messiah sets up His kingdom, which will be a "theocratic kingdom," all of humankind will "beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks", verse 3. This will be a time of "real peace" and the "people will learn of war no more". 
 
 
We are talking about the period of time known as the "Kingdom Age" or the "Millennial Kingdom," the thousand - year rule and reign of Christ from His Temple in Jerusalem. This will be the only time in history when there will be "true peace" on the earth. 
 
Remember, every time we pray for the "peace of Jerusalem", Psalm 122:6, we are praying for Jesus to come back and implement that peace, worldwide. Verses 4 and 5 tell us something of that time when we walk with the Lord in His name. 
 
By the way, verse 5 says we will do that forever. However, I must remind you that before this time of "real peace" there will be a time of "peace", howbeit a pseudo-peace that will be set up by the coming world dictator, the Antichrist. 
 
 
Another ancient Jewish prophet, Daniel, tells us of this coming short-lived peace. Daniel 9:27 reveals to the reader that the Antichrist will bring about a peace between the Jewish state of Israel and its Islamic and Arab enemies. 
 
This peace will set the stage for the enemies of Israel to watch as the Jews lay down their weapons and then these enemies will attack the Jewish State, Ezekiel 38:11. 
 
Once the Jews are under the illusion of peace, their enemies rush in and try to destroy the Jewish people. Today there are many political leaders trying to bring peace to the Middle East. This anticipated "true peace" will not come until the "Prince of Peace", Jesus, comes back to earth; Micah 4:3-5. 
 
However, the work of these world leaders to bring peace to the Middle East and the rest of the world will indeed set the stage for "Satan's peace plan". The Antichrist, in his first major action will set in place this "peace". 
 
But before that peace is in place the Rapture must happen, when Jesus calls us up to be with Him in the heavens. The Rapture seems to be about to happen, what with all the talk about peace in the Middle East and all the work being done by world leaders to make that happen. It could be today.

But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.

As we come to the "prophecy" section, Micah 4-5, we are reminded that when you mention the name Micah, an ancient Jewish prophet, one most likely thinks of the Christmas story and the birthplace of Jesus revealed in Micah 5:2, Bethlehem-Ephratah. However, as stated before, there is so much prophecy in Micah, which must be looked at as well. 
 
What I am going to do is with each pass through this book, for our devotions, I will unlock more evidence of the Second Coming of the Messiah Jesus Christ from this great prophetic book. 
 
The fact is that our extended reading for today has five different prophecies plus a prophecy that tells us of the exact location where Jesus Christ was born. Not the city, we know that was Bethlehem. I mean the exact spot of His birth. 
 
But for today, we will look at only one of these five prophecies. Our key verse tells of a coming "temple" to be established on the spot known as, "the mountain of the house of the Lord". 
 
I must remind you that during Micah's ministry, there was a Temple standing in Jerusalem on the Temple Mount. This was the temple that King Solomon had built around 1000 B.C. Remember, that Temple, built by Israel’s third King, Solomon, was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 B.C. 
 
Notice the first 5 words of Micah 4, "but in the last days". This designation of time reveals to us that the temple that Micah is referring to is the one that will be in Jerusalem when Jesus is "ruling and reigning". Verse 2 says that the people of the world will come up to the Temple to be taught by the Messiah, Jesus. 
 
It will be a time when the "word of the Lord" shall go forth from Jerusalem. This prophecy will be fulfilled when Jesus has returned and we are living in the 1,000 year Kingdom that He sets up.

We are looking at Amos 9:11,And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God. 
For further study - Amos 9:11-15 
 
In a recent devotional we looked at the prophecy of Joel who introduced to us the prophetic phrase, "the day of the Lord". Here in Amos 9:11, the prophet uses Joel's phrase to define the time of His work among the Jewish people, in the day leading up to the return of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Our passage for today is filled with what the Lord will do for the Jewish people, however, I want to focus on one key verse, verse 15. 
 
The Lord makes a promise in the form of a prophecy, that He will plant the Jewish people upon their land and they shall no more be pulled out of their land, the land that He has given them. 
 
Let’s look at several thoughts about this verse. The Lord did promise Abraham in Genesis 15, that He would give the land to the Jewish people, his descendants, in the last days. In fact, as you study the 38 passages of scripture that relate to the true biblical borders of Israel, you must conclude that God will ultimately give the Jewish people 10 times what they have today. 
 
The promise of all the land will be fulfilled during the "millennial kingdom" in the future, and the Jewish people will have that land forever, throughout all of eternity. I know this because the "Lord thy God" said it, verse 15b. Today the Jewish people have only 10 percent of the land He promised to give them. 
 
The promise that Amos wrote to the Jewish people is yet to be fulfilled, however I do believe the beginning stages of God's plan and promise for the Jews is in the process of being fulfilled. 
 
The religious Jews in Israel today who are refusing to give up the land they believe that God gave them take this passage seriously. They believe they will be no more pulled up out of the land He gave them. I believe that as well. 
 
Therefore, His promises to protect them in the land are true also. If some of their enemies or all of their enemies try to take the land away, He will return to protect the Jews. With the nations of the Middle East plotting to take the land of the Jewish people from them it seems His return is close at hand. Even so come Lord Jesus.

The passage of scripture selected for our daily devotional today, was written by a farmer, who was a man named Amos, who God called to be a Prophet. God called him from where he lived, in Tekoa near Bethlehem in Judea, to be the one to give the message to Israel. 
 
Remember, this was the time when the Jewish people were divided into two nations, ten tribes in the north - Israel, and two tribes in the south - Judah. God takes a "southern boy" to speak to the northerners. 
 
The message in our passage for today is one of judgment to come and the Lord's plea for Israel, i.e. both groups of Jews, to "seek the Lord". The Lord gives his people information on the coming judgment in the days of Amos, but also these prophetic warnings are appropriate for today, and especially for today.

Amos the Prophet is also Amos the "herdman" of Tekoa, Amos 1:1. This book, written by Amos, reveals that this prophet was also a cattle breeder and a farmer. Amos was a substantial, and respected man in his community, 10 miles south of Jerusalem in Tekoa. 
 
I have been to Tekoa to visit the former mayor of the city who has also served with several Prime Ministers of the State of Israel. I bring this to your attention to show you that substantial and respected men today live in Tekoa, one of the Jewish communities, i.e. a Jewish settlement, in the "disputed territories" of modern-day Israel. 
 
My friend and his family, along with a number of other families in Tekoa, have been told that the Israeli government is one day in the near future going to evacuate their community as part of the "Peace Process" and the return of the lands to the Palestinian people. 
 
These Jewish families of Tekoa today, including my friend, believe they are living on land that the Lord promised to give them in the last days. They believe these are the days of the coming Messiah and they have claimed the land He said He would give them.
