The Youth Ministry of Friendship West Baptist Church (C.H.O.S.E.N. Generation) is a part of “A Game Changing Christian Movement,” connecting young people to Jesus Christ; equipping them to fight for justice; and empowering them to create the beloved community.

The disciples were Jesus’ most intimate friends, and even they could not enter into the space of solace and solitude Jesus established for his own sake. Alongside the spiritual disciplines of prayers, fasting, and meditation, Jesus also models for us the spiritual virtue of solitude – the ability to be alone so that we can operate in relationship with others “from a place of abundance rather than from a place of lack.”

Happy Mother’s Day!!! We need to talk about this subject of voting on Mother’s Day for several reasons. Primarily because a few days ago the state of Texas took steps to impose stricter voting laws – which make it harder, not easier to vote. The bible says in Nehemiah 11:1-2, that when difficult decisions had to be made the people were given equal opportunity to cast lots – a system devised for decision making used throughout the bible including in Numbers 26:55; Joshua 7:14; Joshua 7:16-18; Joshua 14:2; Joshua 18:6; and 1Sa 10:20-21 ; 1 Samuel 14:41-42. Each member of the community had an opportunity to express their will and intent. If fair elections are good enough for God what’s wrong with the Texas legislature?

What did the disciples do while they waited for Jesus' resurrection? Some despaired, others doubted, most disappeared fearing being identified as one of Jesus' 12 disciples. Still, others, particularly the women "prepare." They think they know what they will find at the tomb. They truly have no idea, but they are getting prepared in the mean time. While we wait out COVID-19, sheltered in place, what are we doing with our time? What new skills are we developing? What new knowledge are we acquiring in the #Meantime?
