As we celebrate the wonder of women on Mother's Day, our focus is on The Love of a Mother as embodied by the biblical character Hagar. Having found herself in a difficult situation Hagar's love for her son Ishmael trumped her troubles. It was her love as a Mother that led her to do all she could for her son and to embrace him with her heart and hands. She is a true display of motherhood.

Family is important now and has always been important to God. That's why God created the family unit before he chose Israel as a people and before he called humanity to the body of Christ. In this text, Matthew shares the words of Christ who makes it clear that only one thing trumps the relationships that create the ties that bind in a family.

Many of the problems in our society, especially the problems related to how we treat one another can be traced to the collapse of the family focus on faith. If society is going to overcome many of these problems then families must get back to faith and Raise Our Children Right. Moses' message to the Israelites offers some insights for us.

In this psalm of praise, David shares good news with the people of God. David declares that while trials and tribulations may be unavoidable for believers, they have the benefit of God's presence and support. Take heart and know that God is on your side.

As believers we will face challenges in our walk with Christ. Some people have referred to these challenges as climbing the rough side of the mountain. However, Jesus declares that if we have the faith of a mustard seed, we can speak to the mountain and it will be removed. So, the question is Why Is Your Mountain Still There?

There are times when believers struggle with the guilt that often accompanies our sin. In these times, believers often feel a desire to stray away from God. Our sin should have just the opposite effect on us, as it should draw us closer to God. God is the only one who has an answer for our sin-sick souls, so, no matter what happens Stay With God!

Our relationship with God is based on Christ's work on the Cross. But once we have accepted Christ, our relationship is molded by the Lord's commitment to be our God and our commitment to be His people. Distractions and disobedience represent departures from that commitment; and they require our repentance and return to God.

In life, we are bombarded by many situations that demand choices be made. Sometimes those choices are easy and sometimes they are difficult. God is still in the miracle working business. Just like when the Israelites crossed over the Jordan on dry ground, God expects us to remember his blessings and memorialize his miracles with a message to our children, families, neighbors, co-workers, friends and associates. Our message should simply be: "If I had not been for the Lord who was on our side."

Every believer is subject to The Call To Remember. We are called to remember God's goodness in our lives. The reason we are called to remember is because God recognizes that it is a human tendency to forget where we have come from and how we got to where we are today.

God's sovereignty means that because he made the earth, the heavens, the sun, moon and stars, they all belong to him.  It also means that we belong to him.  Thus, God's requirements of His people is both just and reasonable.  As his people, it is imperative that we know what God requires of us, because His covenant with humanity obligates us to respond to His grace.
