The book of Ecclesiastes contains Proverbs, maxims, sayings, and is largely an autobiographical story. Solomon wrote it late in his life, approximately 935 B.C. He had become aware of the mistakes that he made throughout his life and began to document them. This book was written by Solomon when he was out-of-fellowship with God. The book is full of human viewpoint and talks about how everything is useless and vanity without a right relationship with God. The purpose of Ecclesiastes is to spare future generations the suffering and misery of seeking after foolish, meaningless, materialistic emptiness, and to offer wisdom by discovering truth in seeking after God.

Lesson 1 Eccl 1:12-15; 2:18-26

Job recognizes the Redeemer lives! He declares that God will stand on the earth on the last day and that even though Job will be dead, and his flesh destroyed – he will somehow amazingly see God in his flesh! Job testifies to the doctrine of the resurrection of believers’ bodies. This is amazing. One of the most ancient characters in the known history of our world – and he’s affirming two doctrines that are essential to the Christian faith – and what’s more – they’re realities that haven’t happened yet – Christ’s second coming and the resurrection of the righteous! In this study we see how these two doctrines can sustain the Believer through extreme suffering!
