Song # 1980.1 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. The Psalms in the Old Testament section of the Holy Bible, is a collection of hymns and prayers gathered together over a long period of time, and they are of many kinds. Some reflect worshipping God, while others are prayers and hymns calling for help, protection, forgiveness, salvation and songs of thanksgiving.
My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king, my tongue is the pen of a skilful writer (Psalm 45:1). You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you for ever (Psalm 45:2). Gird your sword upon your side, oh Mighty One, clothe yourself with splendour and majesty (Psalm 45:3). In your majesty ride forth victoriously on behalf of truth, humility and righteousness, let your right hand display awesome deeds (Psalm 45:4). Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies, let the nations fall beneath your feet (Psalm 45:5). Your throne, oh God, will last for ever and ever, a sceptre of justice will be the sceptre of your kingdom (Psalm 45:6). You love righteousness and hate wickedness, therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy (Psalm 45:7).
Thought for today: plan for your eternal future, follow Jesus today.
Thought for the future: there’s only one way to heaven, but that’s all we need. Where will you spend your eternity?
