Song # 2077 from Our Gospel In Song Collection by Col Johnston. The Lord spoke to Jeremiah concerning the drought in the land (Jeremiah 14:1).
“Judah mourns, her cities languish; they wail for the land, and a cry goes up from Jerusalem” (Jeremiah 14:2). “The nobles send their servants for water; they go to the cisterns but find no water. They return with their jars unfilled; dismayed and despairing, they cover their heads” (Jeremiah 14:3). “The ground is cracked because there is no rain in the land; the farmers are dismayed and cover their heads” (Jeremiah 14:4). “Even the doe in the field deserts her newborn fawn because there is no grass” (Jeremiah 14:5). “Wild donkeys stand on the barren heights and pant like jackals; their eyesight fails for lack of pasture” (Jeremiah 14:6). “Although our sins testify against us, oh Lord, do something for the sake of your name. For our backsliding is great; we have sinned against you” (Jeremiah 14:7). “Oh Hope of Israel, its Saviour in times of distress” (Jeremiah 14:8).
Thought for today: praying is far better than complaining.
Thought for the future: we can’t see God’s hand, but we can trust His heart. Where will you spend your eternity?
