Mark 16:9-20 is controversial because some scholars say that an unknown author added later to the original ending of Mark's Gospel. Scholars agree that Mark concludes his Gospel Mark 16, verse 8. Probably, Mark did not intend to end the story of Jesus in verse 8 – it could be the original ending might be lost. The longer ending of the Gospel was perhaps added incorporating the resurrection and ascension of Jesus. Why would Mark leave out the resurrection and ascension story? Why would Mark end the story almost abruptly, focusing on terror and fear of the disciples? the message of Ascension of the Lord forget the controvesry
