Judges 9:56-57
Thus God repaid the wickedness of Abimelech, which he had done to his father in killing his seventy brothers. Also God returned all the wickedness of the men of Shechem on their heads, and the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal came upon them.

• Within the cycle of disobedience, discipline, repentance and blessing in the Book of Judges, Abimelech acted selfishly and with evil intent. God allowed some of his actions, and people might have wondered if the God of Israel was powerless, unaware, or just didn’t care enough about His people. Abimelech’s actions caught up with him and brought death. God will allow strange events to take place where we might feel that He is not involved or committed to what is right, but that is only because of our limited knowledge of who He is. Nothing escapes God until He is ready to make His move at the right time. Injustice is not in His playbook.
