The parable of two sons. Don't confuse with the parable of the prodigal son and his elder brother. Jesus told the Jewish leaders that a father requested his sons to work in his vineyard. The first one told his father that he will do it but doesn't go out to complete the task. While the second told, he won't do it but goes and does the work in the vineyard. The parable is oblivious: the one who went out to work did the father's will, although he initially refused to do it. Yes, we can say it: actions speak louder than words.

What happens before Jesus tells this parable?
Jesus confronted the temple leadership for messing things up for the people. Jesus overturns the tables of money-changes in the temple, challenging the religious authorities pursuing business in God's house. The religious leaders made the temple more a place for profits than for prophets. The temple leadership fought back, asking Jesus to prove his authority.
