(Part 5 in Debunking Oneness)

If we apply sound exegesis to John 17:5, we will always come out with the fact that 2 divine persons shared glory together before the world was. Therefore Oneness doctrine is destroyed by Jesus in His own words. The Greek word used by Him (which is "with" in the English) is "para" (παρά) which means "near to, close to, beside, or in proximity with". Jesus says in John 17:5 He had glory WITH (para) the Father before the world was. Can it get anymore obvious than that? Jesus proves, in no uncertain terms, that Oneness doctrine is false.

The typical Oneness excuse is to make the Son out to be a plan in John 17:5. But that is a ridiculous interpretation, because one would have to assert a plan was near to, close to, beside, or in proximity with the Father before the world was. John certainly did not have that idea in his head when he penned the words found in John 17:5, in fact, he had the Trinitarian view in his head. And from the Trinitarian perspective, this verse makes perfect sense. The divine Son was beside the Father in glory before the world was.
